Is Delphi dead?

Delphi’s Resurgence: A Renewed Force in the Programming World

Delphi is far from dead. Its decline seemed imminent when its previous owners, Borland and Codegear, neglected the IDE while prioritizing the more lucrative database market. However, Embarcadero has revitalized Delphi, investing heavily in new features and bug fixes, steadily increasing its market share.

Although Delphi may not rival C++ or the latest trending programming languages, it remains a significant player and is experiencing consistent growth.

Embarcadero’s strategy to release free community editions has been pivotal. This move attracts young developers to the Delphi language, especially in lower-income countries, where it becomes a viable tool for making a living.

As these young developers enter the workforce, they fill the demand for Delphi expertise in companies. Sometimes, offering free tools can lead to long-term profitability, as opposed to short-sighted greed that ultimately starves the market.
