Fixing Video Playback Issues in Chromium-Based Browsers
If videos in your browser (like Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, etc.) have suddenly stopped playing and you see strange error messages, here’s a simple way to fix it:
-
Open Your Browser and Type in a Special Address:
-
Click on the address bar at the top of your browser.
-
Type this and press Enter:
chrome://flags
-
-
Search for a Specific Setting:
-
In the new page that opens, you’ll see a search box.
-
Type this into the search box:
Media Foundation for Clear
-
-
Find and Change the Setting:
-
You should see a setting called “Media Foundation for Clear”.
-
This setting controls how videos play on your browser.
-
-
Set the Setting to Default:
-
Next to “Media Foundation for Clear,” there will be a dropdown menu.
-
Click the dropdown menu and choose “Default.”
-
-
Restart Your Browser:
-
Close your browser completely.
-
Open it again.
-
After doing this, your videos should play normally again. This issue commonly happens in Chrome, but the same steps will fix it in other Chromium-based browsers too.
Give it a try and see if it works!
